Fanack Water is proud to be a collaborating partner since 2023 with The Hague Roundtable on Climate & Security. International participants from NGOs, governments, education/research institutes and more convene in Hague Roundtables on topics around climate adaptation including water and food security, resilience, and conflict risk reduction.

Based in The Hague, the city of peace and justice, the Roundtable meetings have been held in the United States, and the 17th meeting is in planning for early 2025 in Geneva, Switzerland. Participants are encouraged in action-based dialogues to identify who can contribute and what more is needed when addressing climate-related challenges. For example, representatives of the Thirst Project with the Bahr Aluloom Foundation Iraq came to The Hague to join the 14th Roundtable last year.  They highlighted impacts and needs related to water scarcity, including the marshes in the south of Iraq, which have been repeatedly experiencing prolonged droughts affecting not just livelihoods but also the ecological ecosystems of the ancient wetlands.

The Hague Roundtables can be used to amplify an organization’s work in the sector, and to reach a range of stakeholders across sectors for potential engagement and support. As climate impacts reach further into all aspects of life and business, such international cooperation is becoming more beneficial to human health and sustainable livelihoods.
